Welcome to the personal web site of Matthew Mullins. I am currently working towards my PhD in Philosophy with a Cognitive Science specialization at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. My philosophical interests primarily extend to philosophy of language and epistemology (though I do have related interests in both metaphysics and philosophy of mind). I am particularly attracted to the many interesting questions and problems that lie at the intersection of the aforementioned fields, for example what is the epistemic role of conceivability and imagination in our knowledge of possibilities; what would a unified analysis of conditionals look like; what are the nature and norms of assertion. I also have an enduring interest in the history of early analytic philosophy, and the work of Gottlob Frege in particular.

I am also the husband of a beautiful, intelligent, humorous wife, and the father of a delightful little girl. My family occupies most of my time that I don't spend doing philosophy. When I used to have free time of my own I enjoyed fencing foil and epee (which I did competitively for ten years), reading classic fiction, and backpacking every chance I could get. In the wee hours of the morning I maintain a number of blogs at the Ektopos domain.
